We quickly built our first frontend to test the Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This method helped us get into the market quickly and test our main features, but it eventually became a problem. As HoudiniSwap grew into a top professional aggregator, adding more than 20 services and attracting a wider range of users, our original codebase could no longer support our plans as well as it used to. It became harder to scale, more likely to make errors, and less structured, which hurt both performance and the user experience.
In short, our first frontend was too small for us. This rebuild is not only about making the interface better; it is also about making HoudiniSwap ready for long-term growth and new ideas.
Major Upgrades in V4: Before and After V4
With the brand new v4 mode, we upgraded 4 major key points of our swap:
1. Better Wallet Connect Placement
BEFORE: The wallet connection was hidden in the middle of the flow, which often caused confusion, swap errors, and broken user journeys.
AFTER: Visible from the top-right corner of the interface, you can clearly see the wallet connection, which supports a much wider range of wallet integrations.
IMPACT: Users will have a much easier and seamless experience, clearer UX, and the platform is now better able to handle deeper and more complicated Web3 integrations.
2. A Smooth and Unified Product Flow
BEFORE: Users had to choose between "Standard" and "Private" swap modes ahead of time, which made the first interaction more complicated.
AFTER: Users enter through a single, unified flow and can easily see and choose from all the different types of swaps available in a route selector interface that makes sense. You can choose between private swaps, 'no wallet connect' or even using our brand new wallet connect to give our users a much easier swap interaction.
IMPACT: This makes the user journey easier to understand and follow, while still prominently supporting transactions that are focused on privacy (now via a visible, default-highlighted route). It also allows us to scale faster and seamlessly.
3. A complete overhaul of the route selector
BEFORE: We automatically picked one "best" route for swaps without asking the user, which made things less clear and gave the user less control.
AFTER: Users can easily see all the details of a transaction and choose from several swap options, like Private, Best Price, and No Wallet Connect. We are giving our users full transparency and flexibility towards different route choices.
IMPACT: Transparency, flexibility, and full control over their swaps make users feel more comfortable, which greatly improves their overall experience. Our user has 100% control of their funds during the swap journey.
4. Modernized Technical Infrastructure
Using React, the ShadCN UI library, and a unified global design system, the platform was completely rebuilt. This modern tech stack has a lot of benefits, such as shorter development cycles, easier onboarding for developers, consistent theming throughout the app, and better error handling. More importantly, we can give our users a better swap journey experience. This brand new modernized technical infrastructure upgrade allows us to scale seamlessly.
IMPACT: These basic improvements make sure that HoudiniSwap now has a strong, flexible, and future-proof architecture. This puts us in a good place to make changes quickly, add new features quickly, and smoothly integrate new services. The goal is to give our users the best swap journey experience in the whole crypto industry.
Better UI/UX Features
Some more visual and functional improvements are a simpler burger menu, a navigation bar that is easier to use, and consistent, easy-to-understand page layouts across the whole platform. These changes make HoudiniSwap look cleaner and more professional, and they also make it much easier to use and more appealing to the eye.
In short, this redesign isn't just for show; it's a strategic move that will help our platform better serve our users now and be able to handle future needs without any problems.
